Show INTERVIEW: Jose Martinez Page 7 JM: name and then he he was pretty glad, very glad to see me, you see, and he ask me what you doing here, and I tell him I was looking for a job. He say, where you been all this time, oh, I say I've been working different jobs. I've work, before I was sheep herder and then after I was a railroad worker and then after a coal miner. And then the coal miner I came over here I tell him that I came from the coal mines, you see, I lie a little bit to him so he says you want to work here, well, I don't know if there are any openings now but the first chance I find I put you to work. So he called to this guy that was hiring the people, you see, doing the hiring. This guy, his name is Les Hamlee, the guy who hire the men for Kennecott. He ask him if he had a job for me, he say I got a man over here who wants to work, he's looking for a job opening. I want to ask you if you give him a job? Well, the guy say I don't have any openings right now, I don't doing any hiring right now buy maybe in a few days. So then he told him he recommend me with him the next time he hire some men to give me a job. He say all right send him up here. So he send me to see Les Hamlee. I went to see him, and then he got my name and I gave him my name and address where I was staying, and well he say maybe in two weeks we will do some hiring. So at that time, in two weeks _later he call me, he send me a letter to my cousin's house where I was staying with a cousin of mine but I gave him the wrong address. I think I |
