M: Have you been following this, they call it now the "chicano Novement" you know, this push for civil rights, and equal opportunity and, have you been acquainted with or following that this last few years, especially among the young people? MRS: What you read in the paper, or what you see on TV, you know, but I'm against demonstrations, I don't think you'll accomplish anything by demonstrating like that. I think things should be done peacefully. It seems to me you accomplish more that way. M: What do you think about this activity in general, over all, I mean, what is your impression apart from demonstrations? What do you think they are trying to accomplish? MRS: You mean the people that are working to better themselves and a 11 that ? M: The people in this Chicano movement, the things you have been reading about. MRS: I think if you want to better yourself, you know, and you want equal rights, I think that is the best thing you can do, like I said, you are as good as the next person, I don't think there is anybody that is better than you or me, |
