U. 37 Buck Grant Hurdles, high and broad jumps Although Young University was conceded sufficient strength in the field events to offset, to some degree, Utah's admitted supremacy on the cinders, few wiseacres picked them to lose by so overwhelming a count. 107y% to 371/2 is a rather decided margin. An ideal day was conducive of the best efforts of the athletes, and two marks fell in the course of the afternoon. Buck Grant set a new record in the 120-yard high hurdles Grey Lusty Half-mile at 14 4/5 seconds, a mark that will not be broken very soon. He also established high tide in the high jump, raising by a quarter of an inch the old mark of 0 feet 2% inches set by Alma Richards of Brigham Young in 1911. The new mark is now 6 feet 2% inches. T he Cougars came through with firsts in four of t h e field events.
