One of their most important performances was given at the Spur Convention which was attended by representatives of girls' pep organizations from many colleges and universities. The members of the quartet were: La Prele Spratley, first soprano; Doris Snyder, second soprano; Elizabeth Lewis Snyder Bitner Spratley Sorenson Sorenson, first alto; and Mary Bitner, second alto, with Mary Ann Lewis as accompanist. Miss Jessie Perry directed the quartet during the year. MEN'S QUARTET The University has always had, as one of its most prominent musical organizations, a men's quartet. Albert Mitchell, first tenor; Ferdinand Kohlenberg, second tenor; Earl Coppock, baritone; and Joseph A. Anderson, bass, were the members of the quartet with Preston Iverson as accompanist. They have performed at various school functions including school assemblies and club meetings, and also at radio broadcast programs. They sang at the Mother's tea, which is an annual affair given in April. In addition, the quartet has appeared before various other affairs such as banquets and church functions, one of the most prominent of these being the meeting of the Business Women's League. Mr. William Peterson directed the quartet. 144 |
