Show It was an inspired Denver team that beat Utah on a muddy field. The Indians were fat and ripe for the kill, but it was inconceivable that the Denver Pioneers, having won but a single game in four, were capable of this feat. Utah led the statistics with a total yardage gained of 264 to 248 for Denver. After the first quarter and until the last five minutes,Utah was outplayed by the hustling Pioneers. Wyoming, a would be stumbling block, was cast aside as Utah advanced down the Skyline train hoping to regain the driver's seat. Led by the driving, slippery running of Merrill Douglas, Utah laid claim to the Skyline top spot with a 23 to 15 victory. The keyed up Utes played to their potential and smothered the Cowboys in score, statistics, and over-all play. Looking for their first Homecoming victory since 1953, the Redskins, playing in a snowstorm, found it in the form of a smashing 55 to 0 shutout over Colorado State. Gross-cup to Vaughan was the order of the day as the man with the golden arm hit 12 for 13 passes. All of the Ute quarterbacks were throwing them right and left, which accounts for the 403 yards gained through the air. This aerial wizardry shot the Utes into the national spotlight prior to their forthcoming invasion of Army. m. ". ' ' « * i ft v. * v. '' .' $%%' - 54-. - - * ivi ^^kv -¦¦¦ ' * y », .
