Show Homecomin In the aftermath of the flu epidemic, the week's activities included an assembly, a snowed-out parade, and a football victory. "Flu invades, Hoyo injected, Rams defeated, go home infected" set the stage for all Homecoming activities. Planning for the events began when Homecoming co-chairmen, Marilyn Colombo and Carol Jackson announced the theme, which was especially apropos in consideration of the recent flu epidemic which was just subsiding. Included in the week's festivities were an assembly, an open house, competitions for queen, house decorations, skits, quartets, and floats, a game, and two dances. Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, and Sigma Pi won honors for the men while Chi Omega, Alpha Phi, and Kappa Kappa Gamma were rewarded for their efforts in the women's division. While the decorations were being assembled more Greeks worked long and hard on skits and quartets for the competition. Walking away with the trophies for the skits were Kappa Sigma, Beta Theta Pi, and Pi Kappa Alpha. The winning quartets in the men's division were Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Chi, and Delta Phi, and taking honors for the women were Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Chi Omega, and Pi Beta Phi. The independent groups took a fair share of the honors passed out during Homecoming Week, too. Much time and energy was expended in the building of floats. Although the parade had to be cancelled because of snow, the floats were displayed in the Union parking lot and the following groups received trophies for their work: Newman Club, the Senior Class, and Delta Phi. Selection of a queen to reign during the festivities was of major interest to all. Thirty-eight lovely candidates were presented to the judges for selection.
