An award of a jersey, bearing the block letters C. U. C, was offered to the winners of first and second places. About twenty men entered the race; all but one finished. Jameson, our invincible distance runner, won the event easily. There was a spectacular fight between Cole and Yundt for second place, Cole finally winning by millimeters. This performance well justified its permanent continuance as a feature of early track work. As years pass, the Cross Country Run should become one of the great events in our athletic calendar. |
