He could always be depended upon to co-operate with his team mates in opening up a hole wide enough to drive a wagon through. His head work and general playing ability were better than that of any opponent guard he met.Ray DilmanGuardStrong and heady, with an abundance of vitality, Dilman was a tower of strength at guard. His kick-offs were features of nearly every game.The Other MenIrving Erickson GuardFor his first year, Erickson, at tackle and guard, did very well. His exceptional athletic ability, combined with his good fighting spirit, helped out the line considerable.Seven hard fighting gamesters of real football ability played in parts of intercollegiate contests and were ready for service at any time throughout the entire season, but were not so fortunate as to win the block "U."Cole's great athletic ability combined with his good fighting qualities should place him in the top ranks next fall. Dobbs started late but showed up well for a new man. Evans is another man whose valuable experience, combined with his splendid ability should place him on top another year. Nyman was a good substitute for Gibraltar Gardner. Pratt displayed an admirable spirit and had he not wrenched his back in mid-season he would undoubtedly have won his "U". With his tremendous strength and this year's experience he can't be kept down another year. Plucky, determined, hard-working Rynearson will win his "U" yet. Dow Young made his theatre orchestra work and football harmonize sufficiently to win distinction on the gridiron.152 |
