Show The Order of the GleamTHE Order of the Gleam is a society of thirty college girls, which has for its aim the promoting of literary appreciation and the encouraging of writing. The members meet weekly to read and criticise original papers, principally stories and essays, and to discuss the outlined plan of work. This year the Society deserted the purely contemporary and the narrowly literary to "follow the gleam" into the inspiring realm of grand opera. To encourage original composition in the school the girls this year adopted the new practise of conducting a contest in story, essay and verse writing, open to all save "Gleamers."The free dramatic performance of the charming little Danish lyric, "King Rene's Daughter" proved unusually successful. The cast members, Inez Clark, Alice Hurst, Edith Walker, Leda Wallace, Lucretia Miles, Bess Judd, Marguerite Mansfield and Amanda Brim, acted in a manner highly creditable to amateurs.OfficersPresident...............................................................................ALICE HURSTVice-President.................................................................DALE HAVENORSecretary.....................................................................MYRTLE PERKINSTreasurer............................................................HORTENSE SPENCERMembersGENET BINGHAMAMANDA BRIMMARGUERITE CAMERONALICE CHASEINEZ CLARKELVA DURSTALICE ELDERCAROL EVANSVENICE FARNSWORTHDAISY HARRISONDALE HAVENORALICE HURSTBESS JUDDLENA KREBSLULU LICKLYMARGUERITE MANSFIELDALBERTA McCANNE LUCRETIA MILES MARGARET PARSONS MYRTLE PERKINS LUCILE ROGERS HORTENSE SPENCER ELIZABETH STAYNER GLADYS STEWART LAURA SUTTON LUCILE THURMAN IRENE TOLTON HELEN VAN PELT EDITH WALKER LEDA WALLACE ZINA WOOLF BEULAH WORLD92 |
