Show Homecoming Dance, Hotel UtahHOMECOMINGThe Homecoming Dance was held on the evening of November eighth, following the spectacular game of that date. The feature of the evening was the large school register which every person in attendance was asked to autograph with the year of his graduation. Programs in the shape of French folders were given to the couples as they ascended the stairs to the mezzanine floor. The decorations, primarily in Utah and Colorado school colors, created an air of festivity. Intermission was well occupied with many interesting events. The Delta Epsilon sorority was presented with a beautiful loving cup as a first prize in the Homecoming Day Parade which was held in the downtown district of the city. Phi Mu sorority, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and Beta Theta Pi fraternity were awarded cash prizes in their respective orders.The Homecoming Dance which was given in order to welcome home the alumni and to create a feeling of good fellowship between Colorado College and the University of Utah, was planned and sponsored by the Associated Student dance committee, assisted by the Alumni Board of Control, headed by Douglas Woodruff.THANKSGIVINGThe Thanksgiving Day game was the climax and culmination of the entire football season. After the game everyone was keyed up to such a pitch of pleasurable excitement, consequently no time could have been better for the last football dance.The Thanksgiving Dance was planned and arranged for b}^ the Entertainment Committee; it was given in the ballroom of the Hotel Utah. Students and players from the Utah State Agricultural College, our opponents for the day were the honored guests. Our own team and student body, and many people from down town attended the dance. The programs were of rough surfaced beige paper with a large replica of a turkey in bright colors on the cover. Eve^one was in the highest of "Turkey Day" spirits-the football season was over, but it had been a successful one wThich brought honor to the team and the University. This last football dance was a triumph of gaity and good-feeling.The members of the A. S. U. U. committee which planned this dance were: Pratt Clark, chairman; Virginia Otter-strom, Stewart Wright, and Mirra Jacobs.151 |
