Show Chapter Five It seemed odd to Kim that a teacher at Miss Putnam's would be the one to finally color her world. She'd never been that interested in school or teachers before. But then, she'd never had bright, enthusiastic teachers. All of her teachers at Miss Putnam's either had masters or doctorate degrees from universities, and no teacher taught more than one subject. At the high school in Gridley Falls, no teacher taught less than two subjects. Mr. Patterson, the football coach taught Math and Drivers Ed and the principle taught shop and American History. At Miss Putnam's there were even foreign languages-Spanish and French and German and Latin. Kim took Spanish from a woman who had lived in Barcelona for eleven years. She played the guitar, and every Friday, she took the students out onto a patio off the classroom and taught them Spanish songs. Contemporary Issues for the Gifted and Talented, CIGT, was her favorite class. It wasn't that she was unusually 57 |
