Show There were two, one-hour volunteer focus groups conducted within a one-month period. These focus groups were held at the Salt Lake Public Library and not on location at IRC, which allowed for Family Mentors to speak openly about their experiences with the FMP. While the target sample size per focus group was six mentors, there were seven family mentors in attendance to the first and three at the second. All attendees were compensated by $20 gift certificates to their choice of a variety of locations. An initial electronic invitation was sent out by IRC, for privacy purposes, to all Family Mentors outlining topics to be discussed, location, times, compensation, evaluator role and a request for the time slot that they could most likely attend. The second phase was for IRC Family Mentor Staff to manually call the Family Mentors to ask them if they would be willing to attend one of the Volunteer Focus Groups, from here the family mentors contacted the evaluator directly. There was one, one-hour IRC Staff focus group conducted immediately after a weekly IRC Staff meeting on location at IRC. There were eight individuals in attendance, including: four case managers, IRC's medical manager, the IRC Family Mentor Vista Worker, and two case manager interns. The target number of one-on-one interviews between the evaluator and Family Mentors was two or three. Two interviews were conducted at the time and location settled upon by the evaluator and interviewee. Neither of the interviews took place on location at IRC so that mentors could speak openly about their experiences with the FMP. 10 |
