Show REVIEW OF LITERATURE Patton, Michael Quinn (1982). Practical Evaluation. Newbury Park, CA: Sage Publications, Inc. Chapter eight, entitled: Practical and Creative Evaluation Data Collection, discusses the "symbiotic relationship between pragmatism and creativity in evaluation practice in special reference to problems with design and measurement". This chapter draws a clear line between "critical" thinking and "creative" thinking in an attempt to convey how the two modes of thought can be used together during all phases of an evaluation in order to improve the quality of data gather. Patton provides a list of six accuracy standards with descriptions that are imperative to any evaluation's procedure for sound data collection. He discusses the necessity to gauge all creative solutions according to their ability to accommodate these accuracy standards. Patton then provides seven creative solutions to common set - backs in his data collection from evaluations he conducted prior to the writing of this book. Each solution is introduced after Patton explains the evaluation goals, objectives and limitations. Patton illustrates the relationship between design and measurement in each one of his anecdotes. It is clear that redesigning with creative solutions is only successful if the measurement is considered first and foremost.
