Juan de Ofiate does not mention the existence of the pueblo which stood at Alamillo, a few miles north of the present town of Socorro. At the time of the uprising in 1680 there was a church here dedicated to St. Anne, and, according to Vetancurt, the population was about four hundred. In 1681, when Governor Otermin returned to New Mexico, in a vain attempt to reconquer, this pueblo was destroyed by him.
