ARTICULO XX. Por consideracion a los intereses del comercio de todas las naciones,queda convenido que si pasaren manos de sesenta dias desde la fecha de Ia firma de este tratado hasta que se haga Ja devolucion de las aduanas mariti mas, segun lo estipul.ado en el articulo tercero, todos los efectos, mercancias y proptedades que \leguen a los puertos mexicanos desde el dia en que se vcrifique Ia devolucion de dichas aduanas, basta que se completen sesenta dias contados desde Ia fecha de Ia firma del presente tratado, se admitirfin no pagando otros derechos que los establecidos en la tarifa que este vigente en las espresadas a.duanas al tiempo de su devolution, y se estenderan ft dichos -37- therein, be exempt from all tax upon the sale or consumption thereo~ and :rom every kind of impost or contribution, under whatsoever lttle or denomination. 5. With r_espect to the metals, or other property, exported from any Mextcan port whilst in the occupation of the forces of the United States, and previously to the restoration of the custom~ ouse at such port, no person shall be required by the MexIcan authorities, whether general or state, to pay any tax, duty, or contribution: upon any such exportation, or in_any manner to account for the same to the said authorities. ARTICLE XX. . .Through consideration for the interest of commerce generally, lt JS agreed, that ifless than sixty days should elapse between the date of the signature of this treaty and the restoration of the custom-houses, conformably with the stipulation in tho third article, in such case all merchandize, effects, and property whatsoever, arriving at tho Mexican ports after the restoration of the said custom-houses, and previously to the expiration of sixty days after the day of the signatme of this treaty, shall be admitted to entry; and no other duties shall be levied thereon then the dnties established by the tariff.' found in force at such custom-houses at the time of the restoration of the same.
