Show UNIVERSITY TRACK TEAM The 1921 TRACK and FIELD TEAM AS a fitting climax to an all-around successful athletic season, the Crim-¦**-son tracksters were successful to the highest degree. An inter-organization track and field meet was staged on Cumming's Field. In the dual meet staged against the Aggies on April 30, the Varsity were able to down their old rivals by a score of 72 to 50. The dual meet scheduled with the B.Y.U. was called off on account of rain. Although the Crimson did not meet the B.Y.U. before the state meet, the Provo school was taken in camp by the Aggies, hence the Varsity squad went into the State meet at Logan on May 14 the strong favorites. The track team as entered in the State meet was: Sprints: Ferguson, Wing, Ure, Jensen, Dunyon, Oswald and Smith; 220-and 440-yard dash: Wing, Ure, D. Watts, Decker and Ballard; 880 and mile: Kerr, Hales, Denzil Watts, Jones, Cannon and Dunham; Shot-put and discus: Ferguson, Hurren, Clark, Barker and Stevenson; Javelin: Jim Anderson, Stevenson and Hughes; Broad Jump: Ferguson, Wing and Bagley; High Jump: Jim Anderson, Stevenson, Gunderson and I. Anderson; Pole vault: Jim Anderson and Bagley; Relay: Ure, Jensen, Dunyon and Oswald; Hurdles: Oswald, Glen Anderson, Decker and Smith. Page 132 |
