It has been as a harvest of seeds of efforts sown through many years. The attendance compared with our population, has been enormous; there has been a solidity of student effort, seldom witnessed on any campus; an unusually large number of forward-looking measures have been adopted for the progress of the University; the Institution has moved onward, as a unit, in harmony and good-will. It has been a culminating year, in class work and student activities, the beneficent efforts of which will be felt for decades. *&> To the thousands of sincere, loyal and generous University students who will carry this book into their homes as a memento of happy college days, may I extend full gratitude, in behalf of the University, for their spirited helpfulness in accomplishing this year's work. tJte It needs not a prophet's eye to see that on this campus is arising an Institution which, to this State and to the West, will be as eyes with which to discover the truth that makes progress possible. Wisely governed, freed from prejudices of religion and politics, honestly administered, and truthfully sought by its students, the University of Utah in its power of making leadership for the Great West, will make the hearts of all who have belonged to the University family beat with warm joy.
