Under the splendid and capable leadership of Mrs. Edna Evans Johnson the excellency of the club has been clearly demonstrated by the frequency of its appearance at the student assemblies, and by the large number of its professional engagements. At the annual Song Fest held in the assembly hall at Christmas time it contributed an elaborate act in the form of a cantata. With Elva Chipman as soprano soloist, and Margaret Wright as contralto soloist, Coerne's "First Christmas" was successfully performed. The University Symphony Orchestra furnished the accompaniment. The club's greatest artistic success of the entire year was its annual concert held March eleventh in the theatre of the William J. Stewart building. A program revealing versatility and requiring a great power of interpretation was presented to an appreciative audience with a success heretofore unequaled at any of its concerts. The Glee Club was assisted by an alumni member, Miss Jessie Perry. Miss Perry is a brilliant sopranist, and is prominent in musical circles of Utah. The University String Quartet composed of Esther Bennion, first violin, Beth Baumberger, second violin, Alene Phillips, viola and Doone Smoot's cello, also assisted with several chamber music numbers. The Women's Double Quartet, composed of Jeanette Stoddard, Elva Chipman, Emmeline Lund, Lela Boyer, Margaret Wright, Mabel Holland, Emma Johnson and Valentine Gorlinski, scored a unique success on this occasion.
