Show ALPHA CHI SORORITY----WINNERS IN THE SONG FEST with understanding and finesse. Her chagrin at "Meg's" marriage with John Brook, her genuine sorrow at the loss of her hair, and her refusal of Laurie's offer of marriage, were expecially well portrayed. Harry Nelson made the heavy role of "Laurie" animate with true boyish mirth and the happy-go-luckiness of a nature overflowing with life and energy. His scene with Amy in the apple orchard at Plumfield showed that he has a future in dramatic art Miss Beatrice Hurst as "Meg", and Miss Grace Stone as the staid, proper and demure "Amy" did some splendid acting. Miss Maurine Bennion brought the audience to sincere tears in her role as "Beth", and Miss Elva Taylor as Mrs. March gave a true picture of sweet motherly love. Charles Crawford made everyone love "the kindly philosopher of the apple orchard" by his interpretation of "Mr. March". Ellis Barker as "John Brook" proved a very gallant lover, and Marion Earle caught the spirit of benevolent old age as "Mr. Lawrence". The identity of Miss Louise Hyatt in the role of the fussy old lady, "Aunt March", was entirely absorbed, and the characterization of "Hanna" by Miss Sadye Eccles was beyond reproach. Harold Davis admirably portrayed the eccentric and intellectual character of "Professor Baer." His German accent was delightful. Page 99 |
