Rep. 1883 (1885), pp. 813-816 and figs. 33 and 34) is very incomplete. His remarks apply to the cranium only, and his specimen was defective in the parietal and prefrontal regions. Hay (Zool. Bull. ii. 1, 1898, p. 28) gives a side view of the hinder part of the cranium of " Tarpon atlantieus." The following remarks are based upon the examination of three specimens of M°galops cyprinoides.
