In the preceding pages I have endeavoured to compress into concise limits all that could be ascertained of the natural divisions and classification of the African anthropoid apes in the light of modern study and investigations. We now come to the Asiatic anthropoids; and if the Gorillas and Chimpanzees offer serious difficulties to the student, the Asiatic Orangs present difficulties ten times worse.
