Show 6635 Howland- C 4625 Q Did you have any whirlpools? A Yes sir. Q And sand waves? A No, I don't encountered any sand waves on the Colorado. Q Your experience on the Green river and also on that section of the Colorado river formerly called the Grand, did you find the sand in the channels shifting about? A Well, no, without it was caused by some flood or some-thing, rain or something might shift the channel. Q If there was no rain or no flood you don't find any shifting? A Channels generally appeared near in the same place every year; during high water, might be an obstruction form from high water like a drift, something like that, divert the current from what it was last year; that would change the channel. Q As matter of fact, the river bed has no permanency at all, has it? A I wouldn't say that, no; it has a permanency; actually we take the outside channel always. Q Lots of times you can't find the deep water, can you? |
