A I stayed down there three or four days, as I remember it, and then came back, and I think we were two days and a half coming n\ back, and had reached a point then about fifteen miles below Greenriver or Elgin when the engine broke. Q What broke about the engine? A I am sure I don't know; it was a regular gasoline engine; all I remember was, it broke, Oppenheimer said he would have to go up to Greenriver to get his big boat. Q Did leave? A We rowed over to the shore, and I camped there that night; he walked up to Greenriver and came down the next day with a stern- wheel boat. Q How large a boat was this stern- wheel boat? A The best of my recollection it was about twelve or fourteen feet wide, and about thirty or thirty- five feet long; the stern wheel was about six or seven feet in diameter; iot was driven by steam engine, as I remember it, and it drew about a foot and a quarter of water in depth.
