Q About how much rain do you think you have to have a year in order to produce a crop on a dry farm? A Well, you can dry farm with fifteen inches; but to make it profitable you ought to have twenty inches. Q And there are a good many years over in t he San Juan country when you don't have fifteen inches? A There have been lately, yes. Q Isn't it true that over in that country that you are tation in a very short space of time, say twenty- four hours, with a rapid run- off? Does not that occur? A Well, not ordinarily, I think not. Q Do you frequently have rains over there that run as much as two and three inches? A No, we consider an inch rain a big rain in that country, inch and a half. Q Are there a quite a number of farms over at Monticello,-- by the way, when you were last over there/ A I left there in 1923. Q Have you been back since? |
