Show 6653 H. J. Howland- C 4643 Q And while you were rowing you did not get on any sandbars? A no sir, not unless we might run up some back water. Q Just touch a sandbar -- MR. FARNSWORTH; Let him tell it. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q But you didn't have to get out in the water, did you? MR. FARNSWORTH: Let him tell it A Coming up the river you generally take advantage of the back water if you are rowing; once in a while, trying to go over a sandbar, we know is there, we will try to go over it and possibly get stuck, and have to back out and go around it. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Those are the only sandbars you got stuck on? A Yes sir. Q You never got stuck when you are rowing up? A That is what I am talking about, coming up. Q I am talking about when you stayed out in the channel, not going in the back water. A No sir. Q Did your oars ever touched bottom? A I supposed occasionally of it? |
