Q Did you get on a train at Greenriver, Utah, and ride to Thompson? A No, I got on the train in Provo; went out there, and then left the train at Thompson Springs; that is the other side of Greenriver. Q Do you recall whether or not you crossed on a ford or a ferry when you crossed the Colorado at Moab? A The Colorado? Didn't cross the Colorado; crossed the Green river on a ferry. Q I mean coming down from Thompson to Monticello. A That was the Green river, -- or Grand, I should say. Q It was called the Grand, but they call it the Colorado. How did you cross the Grand? A Going out I crossed an a ferry; coming in at one time I crossed in a wagon, I forded; but usually in the ferry. Q Good many of those placer miners had horses and mules and burros, didn't they? A Well, some of them had burros. Q Some had horses? |
