Show OHI Sade Tannenbaum 7-24-84 sl:30 JK: Now when you say look down, what do you really mean? ST: They don't think that you come up to their expecta-tions. They feel that they are superior . Things have changed some probably, but it ' s been a hard struggle. ~I think their life has been different than other parts. I think that ' s probably, you know that, too. They ' ve had all the advantages of all arts and what have you the higher things . The other ones were just held down, that's all . And even if you ' ve gone to synagogue, you ' ve gone to the Kol Ami . Have you been there lately? You still have separ a t ion today. Besides the separation , we ' ve got so many converts and they ' re trying to push and push us out . They know everything. They ' re gonna do , they ' re gonna show us. I don't know whether you ' ve noticed that or not. JK: Well, yeah, I guess I just wonder in living in a com-munity like this now where there is only one synagogue and so many diverse kinds of groups, I wondered. Have you seen much change over the years? , ST: Yes. I see even the services now; Friday nightservices. We go every once in a while. Of course, I haven't gone unless Fred and Irene ask, or one of the children ask, and they're going, because I won't drive at night. There's a difference. The services are different. There's mostly converts that come. Saturday morning it's more |
