| Abstract |
In a series of three interviews, Sade Tannenbaum tells Joyce Kelen about her family background in Poland and her immigration to the United States at the age of five. She describes her childhood, various jobs she has held, Mormon attempts to convert her, and the differences between the two Jewish congregations in Salt Lake City. Other topics covered include farmily members, keeping kosher, Jewish communities in Kansas City and Denver, her service in the task of preparing the dead for burial, Shaary Tzedick, life in Salt Lake City, and Zionism. |

ST: Well, when we came to Denver my mother was ~here ~very unhappy.~nd it took us a while before we .... decided on~because at that time Denver was a health resort. All the people who had tuberculosis from the sweatshops in New York came to Denve~ ~nd it was very difficul~~ ~~oever you went out with, if they were from the east they were there because they were sick, and it was very difficult. Of course, this came up after my mother died. My mother was already gone when I heard about, -~nd I was a good friend of my husband's sister. She was the one who got us to-gether, and I was in my middle twenties. I was an old maid already. |
