Show OHI Sade Tannenbaum 7-24-84 sl:28 ...--~ wouldn't join the temple, that wasn't for me. Join the JK: ST: JK: sisterhood and the children can go there to Sunday school, and that's what happened. Well, how come the Sunday school war having problems? Ju..nr.1;wv What was the problem with Montefiore sch6ol? They didn't get teachers, I don't know, they just didn't have the rights. And then they invited the children to go up to the B'nai Israel. At that time B'nai Israel had Sunday school up at the old community center. I don't know if you know. ST: And then they blamed all the children from Montefiore for wrecking the place, and the others were the ones that were doing it. Ther~s always that friction between B'nai Israel and Montefiore people--even today -_l.· r . /, 1 we have one synagogue ) they still have that separation. It shouldn't be. That was the time that they went and they both were, fee ) Francine was not Bat Mitzvah. Dan wasn't Bar Mitzvah, so they were both confirmed from the temple. In fact, the pictures, if you go into the synagogue, they have the different confirmation classes. JK: Now 1 what year was this when you joined? Do you remember what year it was you joined the sisterhood or B'nai -:::::: Israel? ST: Oh, probably forty years ago. That would be '44, wouldn't it? |
