And he told me, he 1- said, "Matz, god damn yo u, that's the last time you'll ever get any -- yo u'renot going to get Christmas off . You're not going to get New YEars off." Well, by christmas, we were headed for overseas. So It didn't matter. But, [laughs] It -- And - I toldhim, I said, "And that's not only it, as soon as the Greek Easter comes around, I'm going on that too because I celebrated that all my life . " [laughs] Boy - - of course, Ididn't put in for it. But I got all the Jewish holidays. Even wheni was overseas. I was in Honolulu, the passover would come and this Mormon chaplain come around and say, "Looked up you're Jewish, huh?" And I said, "Yeah." And he said, "WEll, I'm taking in the Jewish boys to Passover dinner. Would y ou like to come . " So I said, " Sure." vle get in the truck and - - take us. And we get in and now, myself, I've never learned anything. Well, Iknow about kosher stuff and the passover and the matzoh and the sweet and the sour and all that stuff that you get at home. But he took me into this big hall in Honolulu. And they had this passover dinner. You should see the people that was in there. I sat right next to the Chinese, Chinse boy and therewere some Blacks. Everything around there. You know. And they all had the yarmulkahs and we were sitting there. And here's this chaplain, Mormon chaplain has this shawl with the yarmulkah. I ' m sitting there wih my army hat on. And he's there and he's davening, you know and praying in JeFieh. And bseides me here's this Chinese pure Chinse person sitting therewith the davening, how they do it in shul and that. And I ' m sitting there and don't know a thing. Can't read |
