She 's a smart kid ."You can 't do it; she needs experience . We will not hire anybody t out of school , they need the experience . She gets a little experience come on back . So this Wimmer , and myself and my wife were we town. W e were going up t o Second south.I said, Hey, Esther -- she was working in the bank. I Said , "Let' s go in tehre and just see if they giveyo u a job because ' s youve had the experience. And she said, All right. So we went in fuere . LK Who 's Esther . SM My wife. And - she said, I said , "How about giving her a job." He said, "All right. She's hd the experience?" I said, Yup, she worked with Social Security. And he said, "Well would you like to takea little test here." She sa ys all right. So he took her in the other room and he gave her this t est and it was association or something, which she had been doing for 2 or 3 years a t the bank. So she knew - she was as sharp as can be . She went back there and shemissegne out of 30 -- You know, she got 29 right . And he said, " My God , they don't eve come out of college and get a score like this. You ' ve got the job ." So he hired her. Then. And -- she went out and told Les Larson, she gave him two weeks notice. That she was wquiting there and going to work for Kennecott. He said, "I'll giveyou a hundred dollars a month more, wages, if you stay with thebank . And she said, " Les , Kennecott's still p ay ing me more ban that. "The banks - they were p ay ing nothing, hardly . So she worked forKennecott for 20 |
