The issuin of rations at this agency was discontinued two years ago, and the red% has been. good. Nearly all these ludians have bcen employed during most of the year at the usual wages paid white employees. Conditions at this agency are not favorable to farming except along the banks of the streams, and cattle raising is the prin-cipal industry. The buildings of the boarding school here are in a bad state of repair, and the sanitgr conditions are not good. New buildings are needed. ~e anwhi ltet e school authorities are doing the best they can to make the present quarters habitable. Crow Agency.- A majority of the Crow Indians are self-sup ortin and about 26 per cent em speak English. About one-half were stricken Prom t i e ration rolls last year and it is intended to strike more off this year. Ninet per cent of the children are attend-ing achool. Most of those who have received &em aalltments are tillin their land. Nearly all the returned students are leading industrious lives. The 1n%ians on this reservation are fairly well-to-do itlld there ii no reason why they ehould not make a. good living b farming and stock raising. Their lands are wonderful1 productive when watereK The irrigating canal, which has been built almost wholfy by Indian labor, will soon be completed. It will im te 35,MW) acres, and haa been built mainly from Crow funds. A great many 1 n g m are fencing thewlmd, and others will do ao this winter. This reservation is remarkable for the number of good bomes built thereon. There are two Government boarding schools, one at the agency and one at Pryor Creek. of 172, and the year.
