The high prices commanded by holders of xrain md hay has proven an incentive to farming. The year was a very dry one in this section, and a large per cent of the crops suffered from drought. On Pine River and also on the I'iedra the Indians aho bad good water privileges were able to make a fair crop, and with grain commandin as high sometimes as $2.50 and even over per 100, and timothy at $25 and alfaffa at $80, there has been more prosperity than ever before; however, the year past was one of excessive prices and 16 not liable to occur again. |
