Aa yet no houses have been built by the Indians, but all of them live in teepes, never remainin in one place long at a time. They are quite auperetitious, and as soon as one of t%eir number dies they will move camp within the next few how. They have a small farm, located at Moccasin Spring, about 18 miles from Kanab. This farm is taken ore of by the Indians. At present about 7 acres are cultivated. Corn and alfalfa are the chief crops raised. They do, not realize much money ffom their farm, as tbey do not try to market any of then produds; but se soon ss it la ri e most of them go to Moccasin and eat up what theK have raised. %he men work for tbe wbite people at odd lobs. T ehayingseamn is when they are most employed. Some few are h e r e g sheep thls year. The squaws have steady employment the year round washmg for the wbite people. They get from 25 cents to 60 cents per day for putting out a washing (or a hatehof clothes). They never et anything ahead, but spend their money as fant ss they make it to wpport themssvea |
