FORT LA& AHLK- Rising to the rolling table- land, and turning toward the west to. avoid the gullies of " Goshen's Hole," prolongs the road three miles. Below this, paa* over a ridge to avoid tho river, which Impinges on the 6itkj banks; then along Platte bottom, RICHARD'S- Trading- post belonging to tbe American Fur Company. Average width of bottom 3 miles, haying grass and timber abundant' HOEBI Cftnuc- Timber has become scarce along the river - here there is none. CAMP No. 86- Turning down Horse Creek a short distance; then towards Plattt* T obliquely, to a small oreek. OLD TRACE- A rond lies along the river, but it is not worn \. said to bo shorter than that by Scott's Bluffs. We ascend gently to the old track, which leaves the river at Horse Creek. SCOTT'S BLUTFS- At a small rivulet, row of old, deserted houses. A spring at the foot of Sandstone Bluffs, where the road crosses, the ridge.
