Here we halted for dinner, and after st:.yin~ three hm)rs, proceeded on four miles up the branch, \vhen we came to the €li,·iding ridge between the waters of the l\1i~souri and Columbia ; passed over the ridge and came to a .fine spring the waters of which run into the Missouri. '\ 7 e then kept clown this stream or branch about a mile ; then turned a north course along the side of the di\'iding ridge for eight miles, passing a number vf small streams or branches, and at 9 o'clock at nig·ht encamped nftl r coming thirty two miles.
