EAGLEWoon, PERTH A:~moY, NEw YanK, N ov. 13. 1\fy Dear and 13cloved Husband : I am here with .Mrs. Spring, the kind lady who came to sec you, and mini ter to your want~, which I am deprived of doing. You have nursed and taken care of me a great deal; but I cannot even come and look at you. 0, it is hard! J3ut I am perfectly satisfied with it, b elieving it be:;t. And may the Lord reward the kind jailer for his kind attentions to you. You cannot think the r elief it gave rne to see Mrs. Spring, and to get n letter from your own hands. \Yhcn you were at home last J unc I did not think that I took your hand for the last time. llut may Tny will, 0 Lord, be done. I do not want to do or ~ay any thing to eli turb your peace of mind; but, 0, I would serve you gladly if I could. I have often thought that I should rather hear that you were dead than fallen into the hands of your enemies; but I don't think so now. The good that is growing out of it is wonderful. If you had preached in the pnlpit ten such lin•s a· you have lived, you could not have done so muc:h good as you have done in that one Rpecch to the Court. I t is talked about and prcachrcl about every where and in all places. You know that Moses was not allowed to go into the land of Canaan; so you are not allowed to sec your desire carried out. ~fan deviseth his way, but the Lord dirccteth his steps. . • . (427) |
