Show 150 either even though they were Catholic, mostly because they had bucks and Helen, for all her philosophizing about how everything K always evened out, wasn't so happy about how things evened out with her being poor and people like the Hansen's having money and looking down their noses at her at PTA not realizing they should be suffering just as much as she was only in different ways. And it didn't look like the Hansen's were going to be suffering tonight. I was in back of the house now, in the yard, between the garage and the x back vestabule when I noticed the kaakxdtaaxxa£ ikaxxa the vestabule door ajar. Pretty unusual, locking up everything right and left and up and down tight and leaving the back door hanging open, but Karl always said that locks were made to keep the Rax honest out, afterall it was the back door. So I snooped into the back shed amidst the boots and snow shovels, tried xxx- the door to the kaaxaxxk house, which lead to the kitchen, and it was open too. The big dining room with the dresser was the next room over, I had hours to burn and only needed minutes. I had a aax? couple Christmas cookies and drank milk right out of the half-gallon container, which I always liked to do anyway because then I didn't have to find or wash a glass, though if Red ever xaxxk caught me he put me through a wall. There was a ham in the refrigerator about the size of my xxxxix chest but I couldn't think what I'd do with a ham, so I had a beer instead, sat at the kitchen bar where they prohably ate breakfast. Place was as clean as new sheets so I put the empty beer can in the trash. Then I went into the dining room and crossed over to the dresser and opened the long ii top drawer and began rummaging for money, but I only found things like checks and change and birth certificates and xxaaxixaaxaiaxxaxx old Sears credit cards, looked like ikaxx those Hansen's had learned their iaxaxiaxxx lesson. But they had left the back door open. On top the axxx dresser was a big silver tea set and I remembered that Helen always liked to put extra cash inside cups and things like that so I checked inside the tea cups and in the tea pot and finally under the tray and that's where the money was, not a fortune, just a couple hundred bucks, but at least enough to keep me until Karl declared open xaaxam season. It was a wonderful world until the light went on.
