Show 144 as broad. One thing for certain, things had already quieted down. "Okay, here I am," said Red. "That's what you wanted. Now KXBXxa leave." One of the guys reached through the window and laid on the horn. Red grabbed him by the back of the head, yanked him out, and drove his fist about a mile into his chest. That guy was never going to breath again without training wheels. Two of them stepped toward him but Red put his palm in the air like a traffic cop. Kx They stopped, and Red brought his right fist down on the hood of the first car, a Corvette, xa£ax£xa sadly fiberglass, it crumpled like a Twinkie wrapper. It must have belonged to the guy on the ground, because the other five seemed to be reconoitering the odds. Red stepped back. He had his fists up. But that's when the third car came. There were four in that car and I was alrdady thinking Hxaax underneath what Red was thinking up front that nine against two wouldn't be any better than nine against one, so better that just Red got beat up and later xa he could both feel noble and resent me. Red put himself between the gang of nine and the Corvette, like maybe he was going to roll it over on them and end it that easy, which I knew he couldn't do. He yelled "Stay on the porch," to me so I went into the vestabule and got the ball bat he kept there for special occasions and started down the steps with the determination of a glow worm. This all took about five xa seconds and the last thing I saw as I headed in swinging was Red BXKXXXgxxika pumping and blasting like a great kerosene fire before those bodies put the lid on him. t That's when the shots came. First the windows of the other car went, then the door, then the windows of the third car, BAM, BAM, it sounded like the creation of the xxxaxxa universe. That stopped everything for a moment. Karl stood on his front porch and pumped the shot gun again and a shell flew. "Next I go for the tires," he said, "and then you're going to have to stay here." By now the neighborhood was in the streets. Porch lights were on, and Christmas lights, it looked like a god-damn iaxixaxxaxxia festival. I xax stood next to Red in the middle of those defeated creeps with Red breathing like a bull and looking at Karl like KggxxxaaxxgKB&aMxa&xxx |
