Show 70 "Do it again," Benny laughed. Elise's heart reached out to Hyrum. He was her kind of man, willing to go to the end of the earth in the cause of truth. Besides, he was more brilliant than anyone. Who else had caught the vision of printing folk tales? And who else would be willing to put his life on the line for a friend's cause? To her, there was no one quite so noble as the round-eyed bespectacled Hyrum who always admired the courage of Lathrop not realizing that in his own fashion, he had a courage to match. Lathrop walked with his arm around his beloved Hannah. In spite of her fears, she had proven herself capable of remarkable ability on the battle's front. He squeezed her lovingly. Hannah stopped suddenly and turned to look at Lathrop reprovingly. "John, there's no 'Master Foley of the Watch!'" ' "And who are our 'close personal friends in high places'"? he countered. "Tha knaws, 'high places,'" Hannah looked heavenward, a bit embarrassed for having stretched the truth. "Thee is so beautiful," Lathrop's eyes were held fast on Hannah. |
