The Marqués de Croix resigned his position and was suc- ceeded by Fray Don Antonio Maria de Bucareli y Ursua, Bailio de la Orden de San Juan, whom he had recommended to the king as worthy and competent for the viceroyalty. The viceroy, Bucareli, assumed the government at the city of San Cristobal Ecatepec, September 22,1771. This viceroy ruled nearly eight years, dying in Mexico, on the 9th of April, 1779. 069 CRUILLAS, pr.
