Show From data presented by the Bureau of the Census, showing the irrigated areas by counties in 1899, 1909, 1919 and 1929, the irrigated areas along the Gila and Salt rivers, above the Phoenix vicinity are estimated as follows: 1899 1909 1919 1929 Gila River above Kelvin 27,893 acres 56,768 " 51,558 " 52,075 " Salt River above Granite Reef 15,921+ acres 7,678 " Since methods of enumeration have not been consistent each year and since county boundaries have changed materially within the 30-year period covered by the census, the results arc approximate only. For the purpose of this study the past upstream depictions of the Salt River are estimated at 12,000 acre feet annually.
