Q After you reached the Green River, then where did you got/ A We turned up the Green River a matter of, I estimated, three miles, and it took us hours to do it, and we were just fighting shallow all the time; there just did not seem to be any place where we could run 50 yards straight ahead. We had the greatest amount of trouble finding a place to get the boat up the Green, and we finally decided that there was no use trying to get any further up the Green, and turned around and came back that same day, back up the Colorado, as far as The Slide, and we camped there that night; it was late. Q Did the scope of your expedition contemplate going further up the Green River than you did? A We had heard rumors of a trail -- I think we thought trail supposedly out of Green River up on the first bench, which is locally known as the Wide Rim; we would try to reach that, but we gave it up and came back.
