Show 5923 371 3929 geologist thinks, it is very late, very recent. If there happened to be trees growing on it, you could possibly get some idea of a minimum age. But I do not remember any trees growing along The Slides. There were trees along the edge of it, box elder six or eight inches in diameter, right close to it, but there were none that I can recall that were actually growing on The Slide itself. Q How, again taking up the progress of your trip up-stream, as I recall your testimony, you made this examination of The Slide and then camped above The Slide? A At The Slide. Q At The Slide? A Right at the edge of it; there was a little piece there; we had no tent; we just slept on the sand. Q And next day how far did you preceed? A The next day we went from The Slide to Mile 22; ( examining paper) yes, that was the 7th; we went to the Mile 22. Q And what difficulties did you have, if any, with the operation of the boat in this stretch? A We grounded a few times; I do not recall specifically the places. I have a record that it took us nine hours. |
