Show 5862 3868 in Salt Lake City and moved them by truck to Goodridge, a portion of which was taken on our boats before arriving at Goodridge; and then later arranging with a packer to deliver those supplies at different points accessible to the river, s far down as possible; that could only be tentative, because of the condition of the trails, etc. But as a rule it was carried out, I think, almost as pre- arranged. Q How did you keep contact with this packer to let him know when to come? supplies was at Slick Horn Gulch, and we told him we would be there at a certain date, and asked him to be there also; and I do recall having seen him at that point now. But at the next appointed place, which was Clay hill Crossing, from the information I had I was certain we would be in that vici-nity for a week or ten days, so it would be hard to make con-nection there with him; and we made connection. And then in some cases below that I think we investigated a little bit and told him we would have it at some other point, and we made connections; but it was question or not if we had not he would have left supplies at the place, |
