Show 5921 3927 A Yes, sir. We stopped all day at The Slide on the 6th of August, and through section up the side of the canyon well, and again tried to get out on the first bench. We were unsuccessful, as it was utterly impossible to get out there. On the second day we started up, and it took us half an hour to get the boat past the rocky places at the mouth of Salt wash. We finally had to virtually drag the boat 100 or 125 yards, the man behind pushing and the man in front pulling, and getting it along the best we could. Q Did you make a geological survey of the Slide? A We examined it, yes. Q From what you saw there, were you able to form any opinion as to the possible age of The Slide? A That would be very difficult to give in years, be-cause in human years the changes are not rapid. It was cer-tainly what a geological would call a very recent slide. But that might mean a hundred years, or even five hundred years, or even a thousand years. Many of the rock faces were very fresh and unwatered; but watering is not so rapid there.
