Wallace has made a draAving of a fish of about the same size as the one described above and evidently of the -same species, which he obtained in the Rio Negro in 1851. It was a great misfortune that the magnificent collection of Fishes of the Rio Negro made by the celebrated naturalist should have been accidentally destroyed and thus lost to science.
