Show 3 2 4 ON THE ANATOMY OF THE LEATHERY TURTLE. [Apr. 18. openings; but here one only was in connection with the ureter, the other led into a blind pit. This imperforate condition of the oviducts is probably normal in immature individuals. Professor Stewart has pointed out to me a somewhat similar " hymen" observed by him in a young female Crocodile (Crocodilus acutus, R. Coll. Surg. Museum, Physiol. Series, 2725 B), in which the mouth of each oviduct is covered by a delicate membrane. The cloaca and clitoris closely resemble those of Chelone. The cloaca is 25 cm. long. The clitoris is bluntly conical and free at its extremity. It is situated 15 cm. from the external opening of the cloaca. |
