It appears to me that this projecting bit of cartilage (a) is the equivalent of the thickened region of the hyoid of Lacerta figured by Parker*. This projecting bit in Text-fig. 9. a, projecting cartilage of hyoid arch. Chlamydosaurus is ossified and segmented off from the adjoining bones, with which it articulates by definite joints and is not merely continuous.
