Show 901 He recalls going up the Green River with Mr. Richardson and Mr. LaRue to Greenriver, Utah, in Mr. Wimmer's boat, but doesn't recall the exact date, and he was on one of the return trips of " The Marguerite". R. 2133. " Q. On that occasion you went clear to Greenriver in ' The Marguerite', didn't you? " A. We went to Wimmer's ranch. " Q. Didn't you go clear to Greenriver? " A. Not in the boat, no. " Q. Not in the boat? " A. No.". R. 2133- 2134. He recalls the incident of a man, an imposter, giving the name of U. S. Steele, and representing himself as being in the employ of the United States Geological Survey. This man went to his camp at the junction, and misrepresented himself to Mr. Hiser, who had charge of the camp while Sawyer was gone. He talked Mr. Hiser into sending one of the launches up to Moab with Mr. Steele as a passenger. This man came down the Green River in a row boat. R. 2134- 2135. He recalls going up the Colorado River toward the latter part of his stay, but does not know whether he came back down with Mr. Wimmer, or whether he came down with Mr. Shaw. He does know he returned to the junction by boat; went from Moab down the Colorado, or down the Green River. R. 2135. He recalls setting up the boiler and drill engine on the " Betsy Ann" in preparation for the trip out. |
